Privacy policy in detail

This is the website for NoticeBored, the information security awareness service provided by IsecT Ltd.

Our company address is: Dunard, 536 Okirae Road, RD7, Wanganui, New Zealand. We can also be reached by email through info@isect.com or you can telephone the office on +64 634 22922 during New Zealand office hours.

For each visitor to our website, the webserver automatically recognizes information such as the visitor’s IP address and browser type. The information from our webserver logs is used for statistical purposes to track usage of the website (e.g. the number of unique visitor IP addresses indicates approximately how many unique visitors we have) and to help us improve the website (e.g. we identify broken internal hyperlinks from the ‘page not found’ messages in our website error logs).

Our website is hosted by GoDaddy, a commercial hosting company that potentially has access to the same information. We also use their services to receive email. GoDaddy’s privacy policy is here.

We collect the email addresses of those who communicate with us via email or who volunteer such information on the contact/feedback forms on our website. If visitors choose to provide contact details such as their name, company name and phone number, we may use the information to communicate with visitors. In practice, however, we hardly ever contact registered visitors except by email, and even by email we generally restrict our contact to the monthly newsletters. Direct communications from us to contacts are rare. Generally speaking, we won’t contact you unless you contact us.

We send the newsletters to addressees via Topica, a company that specializes in managing mailing lists. Topica maintains a broadly similar privacy policy to ourselves and takes great care to protect the confidentiality of information provided by you or by us.

We encourage visitors to tell us how they heard about us and to submit comments or improvement suggestions, but again this information is entirely optional.

The information we collect on website visitors is not shared with other organizations. We do not sell, loan or give away our visitors’ details. We comply with the letter and the spirit of New Zealand’s Privacy Act.

We do not set any cookies although we occasionally eat them.

If you do not want to receive email or other forms of contact from us in future, please let us know by emailing us, telephoning us or writing to us using our contact information stated in bold above.

With respect to third party advertising on our website, we have commercial relationships with certain other companies that we allow to place advertisements on our web pages in return for pay-per-click and/or sales commission. As a result of your visit to our site, the advertisers may collect information such as your IP address and clickstream information. We have taken great care to select advertising companies that commit to broadly similar privacy policies to ourselves and to avoid any hint of spam. For further information, please consult the privacy policy of Amazon which currently provides book advertisements on our website.

From time to time, we may use visitor contact information for new, unanticipated uses not previously disclosed in our privacy notice but we promise always to act in good faith. If our information practices change at some time in the future we will post the policy changes to our website. If you are concerned about how your information is used, you should revisit our website periodically but please rest assured that we have absolutely no intention of sending you spam ourselves, nor of passing your details to spammers. Spam is repulsive.

You may opt-out of any further use of your information at any time by contacting us at shown in bold above. Upon request, we can provide you with access to your contact information (e.g. name, address, phone number) that we maintain about you in order for you to check, update and/or delete the details. We will validate any such requests before supplying the information in order to prevent unauthorized access to the data. We have appropriate information security measures in place to protect the information that we have collected from you against loss, misuse, disclosure or alteration. We are information security specialists after all!

If you feel that we are not complying with our stated privacy policy or if you have concerns about our use of your personal data, you may contact us at any time. We will make all reasonable efforts to ensure that any privacy concerns are settled to your complete satisfaction.
